Building the best company in the world

Reveal thinks big. Not only do we want to build the “Google Maps of the subsurface”, a globe-spanning technology business, we want to ensure we attract the best talent and create a workplace that is the envy of the world.

To do that, we have crafted a proactive People Strategy that informs our recruitment, personal development, and processes within the business at a fundamental level.

We’re building a culture in which every member of the team is an owner and where every team member brings their full, authentic selves to work every day.

An independent survey in 2021 by Humankind found that staff described the environment as “caring” and possessed a real “family vibe”. People feel trusted, enjoy the variety, and feel pride at being at the cutting edge of the subsurface industry. Crucially, more than the technology, knowledge or business fundamentals, they described the culture as the core strength of the company.

With a workforce distributed around New Zealand and the Philippines, we’ve worked hard to increase the visibility and accessibility of the leadership team, so every team member has a clear understanding of the goals of the organisation, and how their work contributes to the whole picture.

Our meeting and decision-making structure is transparent, with team members from all different departments encouraged to participate in Sprint reviews and strategy sessions.

To track wellness and create a culture of safety, we’ve designed our Risk Slider Wellness indictor – a online tool used by staff daily to report our individual levels of mental health, workload and well-being. Staff are encouraged to prioritise their family and personal lives, and we have a regular process of checking-in with one another to ensure that we feel supported.

Our Health and Safety protocols for site work have been cited as "the best they have seen" by Waka Kotahi, and have been requested as examples of best practice for other contractors.

We are deeply committed to building a team that is as diverse as Aotearoa New Zealand and ensuring our inclusive environment is always one where our people can bring and be their best. As we look to rapidly grow our employee numbers over the next two years, particularly in the technology part of our business, our initial focus is on increasing our representation of women as well as Māori and Pasifika.
